The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is the nation’s largest wartime veterans service organization, committed to mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow servicemembers and veterans.
What We Do
Community Service
- Our community is full of veterans and military families in need. As a result, we donate to and work with local installments and programs that support our military.
Annual Food Drive
- We help support both veterans and active military in our community to raise money by selling food during hours of operation and other special events to give back to those to those who fought valiantly for our great country.
Memorial Maintenance
- We maintain the Memorial landscaping on the East side of Afton Avenue by the Yardley Inn.
- We support, assist and attend other Legion, Legion Auxiliary and Riders events when they are held. (Legion family events) Example: We just received a Thank you note for support of the Auxiliary “2021 Veterans Giving Tree” program. We help the Auxiliary with their Annual Flea Market that has grown into a successful event. (set-up and food sales)
- We assisted with the funding of the newer bar stools a few years ago and financially support any other improvements needed at the Post including equipment, fixtures, etc.
Helping Veterans
- We all help veterans 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
- The SAL donates as needed to support our veterans in any way that we can financially or otherwise.
- Giving Tree for veterans in six local area nursing homes (Attleboro Nursing & Rehab Center, Manor Care Health, Langhorne Gardens Rehab & Nursing Center, Silver Lake, Center, Statesman, Health & Rehab Center and Woodbourne Place)
- Donations to Delaware Valley Veterans Home in Philadelphia
- Donations to Department for activities at Delaware Valley Veterans Home
Donations to other American Legions
- In 2021 we donated to the Lambertville American Legion that was significantly damaged by Hurricane Ida.

Legionnaire Membership Eligibility Requirements
Your 2023 dues are now due to the Legion. These dues have to be paid by the end of December. We prefer that you pay directly to the Legion, but if necessary please pay directly online, however please note that we do not receive confirmation that you paid to the state for some time. That is why we prefer that you pay directly to the legion.
If you have served federal active duty in the United States
Armed Forces since December 7, 1941, and have been
honorably discharged or are still serving – you are eligible
for membership in The American Legion!
*Because eligibility dates remain open, all active duty members of
the U.S. Armed Forces are eligible to join The American Legion at this
time, until the date of the end of hostilities as determined by the
government of the United States.

- Yearly Dues are $40.00 per Year
